My opinion on Disney Channel today

Hello, my name is Matty Iannielli and I am back on my blog to write my opinion about Disney Channel. I used to love Disney Channel from 2004-2007. I was only 8 years old when Disney Channel died. Over the years, The Disney Channel has been contaminated with poorly written shows about teenage girls with a secret that they only keep inside. Nearly all the shows on Disney Channel today have annoying laugh tracks in them. Every 15 seconds there is an annoying laugh track on things that are either not funny or even inappropriate. I know this topic may sound too late for talking about, but it's the only thing I want to talk about right now. I want to share my feelings to you about The Disney Channel and how you feel would help today's generation have more relevant shows.

Over the years, Disney Channel was one of the greatest channels in American cable until 2001. In the early 00's, Disney Channel started going downhill when these sitcoms started showing in 2002. Disney Channel declined in interest when That's So Raven, Lizzie McGuire, and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody started airing in 2005. In the early 00's, Disney Channel also had classic animated programs for kids. Starting with Recess, Disney's House of Mouse, The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Lilo & Stitch, and Brandy & Mr. Whiskers. In 2006, Disney Channel started focusing on sitcom shows, such as Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place and High School Musical. Around 2007, Disney Channel's animated programs started declining when the other shows took over the classic cartoons. Then in 2008, the criticism of Disney Channel began. Many comments on YouTube said this. "Disney Channel was a great channel for all ages from the late 80's to the early 00's. Many people predict a date when Disney Channel started going downhill. I think it was bad even before 2004. In 2007, Disney started making shows aimed at ages 9-16. With the beginning of Hannah Montana in 2006, Disney Channel started becoming controversial".

With no sign of Mickey Mouse for years, Disney Channel's morning program "Playhouse Disney" started making a series dedicated to Mickey Mouse. But the target audience was much lower than expected. Besides that it was on Playhouse Disney, it was computer animated and for preschoolers. I personally think Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is the only sign of Classic Disney on Disney Channel. However, it is about Mickey Mouse. And what is so wrong with a preschool show about Mickey Mouse anyway? I think it is perfect that Playhouse Disney still has the old soul in the preschool audience!

On August 17, 2007, Disney Channel revived the classic animated series format with Phineas & Ferb. I personally think it is also a good show because it is animated, funny, and much more entertaining than Disney Channel's current programs. This show is also another good thing still living on the channel today. In early 2008, many other sitcoms aired on the channel and soon the cartoons were very rare on Disney Channel. In the early 2010's, Disney Channel finally brought back Mickey Mouse's classic cartoons with Have a Laugh shorts. Disney Channel also made a few other cartoon shows about Cars and Toy Story.

Today, Disney Channel has so many weird shows that have some sexual content, language, and potty humor. With new shows like Austin & Ally, Jessie, Ant Farm, and even Dog with a Blog. I mean what the heck is up with that? In this show, it is about a dog that can't talk and has a blog. The laugh tracks also get me annoyed. They have these potty jokes that are not even funny. And even worse, Disney Channel may contain some sexual content on it. I don't recommend the Disney Channel to any 6 year old kid today. Even a 6 year old would not understand those jokes. Also, they may start attempting some dangerous things. And even with the language. Some of the language used in these shows are either good or bad. I personally think "dead" and "kill" are some serious words. Some of the words that are said in these shows are okay to say, as long as they are not that offensive. So, please don't watch The Disney Channel. It's just a waste of time and entertainment. You're better off hanging out with friends and playing board games.

I really think that bringing back the old Disney Channel programs will help the new generation experience the true magic of Disney. Most people think that signing a petition will help Disney Channel to regenerate the classics. I have tried before to write a letter to Disney saying how I feel about today's shows. But now I think that writing it here will help so other people can read it! So if you have a favorite classic show, comment here and tell how it was good. Disney Channel actually was good in the 80's to the late 90's; back when it was dedicated to Mickey Mouse. Some people also think that making an alternative channel will help them make money, and help save the endangered classics. It will be named Disney Classic and it will play all of the classic Disney programs from the original channel, and even some classic Disney movies. I also have some great ideas for Disney Channel's new shows. In 2012, Disney Junior replaced Playhouse Disney and most of the original shows were nearly gone. Just last year, Disney Junior brought back the classic Playhouse Disney shows, classic Disney movies, and good cartoons. I think Disney Junior is currently better than Disney Channel. Hopefully, Disney Channel will save the endangered cartoons from the original characters.

I think a good example for a Disney show is about Mickey Mouse and his friends having adventures. It will be traditionally animated and have no laugh tracks and real jokes. Another great idea would be a show about Winnie the Pooh. It will not be on Disney Junior though but even if it is, it will still be a great show. I don't care what people say about my childhood, I just want other kids to know what was important to us and our parents. Even if Disney Channel still wants a sitcom, it has to be animated and about kids (and not teenage girls). And if Disney Channel still wants the real people sitcom, it has to be aimed at a younger audience, have more age-appropriate jokes, and be more child-friendly. Even with kids today, they act too immature for their age. And with the older kids, they take nasty photos and post it on the internet. So if your child grows up with Disney Channel, make sure that the content is more child-friendly and has appropriate language. And don't forget about the cartoons because kids love cartoons!

I think as every generation passes by, we have to respect what we grew up with and what our kids grew up with too. Very soon our kids will be grown up and they will remember when Disney Channel was terrible. Hopefully, kids of today have the message and that they know what Disney Channel is really about. Before you know it, your kids will grow up and understand what was so special about Mickey Mouse. When I have kids one day, I will only let them watch the good stuff of what I grew up with and my dad. Soon Disney Channel will also get the message and return to what the channel was made for, "Mickey Mouse".  Thank You!

"I hope that we never lose sight of one thing, that it was all started by a mouse!"

Saying goodbye to another year (2012)

Every year on December 31st, I am always awaiting the new year and watching the countdown to the following year. I will always miss the previous year because I have fond memories of 2012 that I will share with you. I am still excited for the new year of 2013 and I am believing that it will be lots of fun. I also love to watch the new year's countdown while counting down the seconds of the year.

I have lots of memories of the year 2012. I like to write down the memories of 2012 on this story so that I don't forget them later on. I will tell you what I did this year.

This year we had a great Christmas. We opened presents and I got a new video camera. Then we went to Aunt Kathy's house for Christmas. We went shopping at the mall and bought Christmas decorations for the house. Our house looked beautiful from down the street. On December 21, we celebrated Mayan Calendar Day and the resurrection of the Long Count Calendar. The world did not end but the calendar restarted. On December 8, we did not go to Friendly's because I did not want to celebrate that tragic day. Instead, we went for a ride in dad's car. In November, we had a pretty good Thanksgiving. Our Halloween was not so bad, but it was a bit delayed due to the hurricane. We went on a few trips around the year. Over the summer, we went on a fun vacation.

I remember a funny thing from grandma. She was cooking once in her kitchen and she left the onions on the table. Then I went inside the kitchen and quietly threw away all of the onions and ran back to the computer. When grandma came back into the kitchen, she asked me what happened to the onions and I told her that I threw them in the garbage. And then we both laughed together.

On January 29, I told grandma that she was cooking disgusting food, so I closed down her kitchen and made it bankrupt. She was a little upset when she heard that I closed her kitchen.

In the beginning of 2012, I counted down the new year to 2012 and said goodbye to 2011. I told 2011 that I would miss them. I will share you stories of what we did in 2011 but I will share it to you on another blog post. I had lots of great memories in 2012 and I will share photos on Facebook with you.

As the years will go on I will start to miss 2012 and think about it while we record memories together. I will always share memories of 2012 on the next stories. On my next stories I will talk about more things that make me happy. In the meantime, I will finish my work on the computer and when dad gets home, I will write another story in the new year of 2013. I will still miss 2012 but 2013 is even more exciting because there is so much to look forward to in the new year of 2013. I will share with you my thoughts about the new year next time. See you soon.
